Creating a query definition

Query definitions can be used to…

To create a query definition:

  1. In the Manage Structure Designer, on the Properties page, click on the New Query tool button . A new query definition is added to the Queries list.
  2. Select the new query definition and click the Edit Properties tool button if it is not already activated.
  3. Enter or select options using the descriptions in the following table.
Query options

Option

Description

Authentication

Select from the list of available options to specify the authentication method to be used when processing the query.

Database

The name of the database to query.

Name

The unique name of the query.

OrderByStatement

A statement that will be used for the ORDER BY clause of the query. For example, [DBColumnName].

Password

The password used by the account specified for UserName.

Server

The name of the server where the database specified for Database resides.

Table

The name of the table in the database specified for Database.

UserName

The user account name to use to connect to the database specified for Database.

WhereStatement

A statement that will be used for the WHERE clause of the query. For example, [DBColumnName]=’#Property1#’ or [DBColumnName]=’Prefix #Property1#’ or[DBColumnName]=’Prefix + #Property1#’
  1. Click the Save tool button to save your changes.
